Glossary of Terms

To support our mission of education and harm reduction, we have defined the key concepts used throughout our platform to help you navigate your journey with clarity. Use this resource as a foundation for your personal education, and feel free to reach out to our team if you need further guidance on your path.

The Science of the Journey

  • Psilocybin / Psilocin: The primary naturally occurring psychoactive compounds found in certain mushrooms. In the body, psilocybin is converted into psilocin, which interacts with serotonin receptors in the brain.

  • Sub-perceptual: The hallmark of a true microdose. It refers to a dose that does not produce a "high" or visual distortions but works "behind the scenes" to support mood and focus.

  • Neuroplasticity: The brain's ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections. Microdosing is often studied for its potential to encourage this "mental flexibility."

  • Serotonin Syndrome: A rare but serious condition that can occur if there is too much serotonin in the body. This is why we emphasize checking for interactions with SSRIs or other medications.

  • Bioavailability: The degree and rate at which a substance is absorbed into the bloodstream. Factors like fasting or taking a capsule with food can affect this.

Protocols & Methods

  • Protocol: A structured dosing schedule. Following a protocol is essential for preventing Tolerance—the body's natural tendency to become less responsive to a substance over time.

  • The Fadiman Approach: A common protocol involving one day of dosing followed by two days of rest (1 day on, 2 days off).

  • The Stamets Stack: A protocol involving four days of dosing followed by three days of rest (4 days on, 3 days off), often combined with non-psychoactive mushrooms like Lion’s Mane.

  • Afterglow: The positive emotional or cognitive effects felt the day after a microdose, often characterized by continued clarity and calm.

Support & Intent

  • Integration: The most vital part of the process. It involves taking the insights gained during your journey and turning them into lasting lifestyle changes through journaling, therapy, or community support.

  • Intent (or Setting Intent): The practice of identifying a specific goal—such as "finding focus" or "processing grief"—before beginning a dosing regimen to guide the experience.

  • Harm Reduction: A proactive strategy that prioritizes safety, education, and testing to minimize risks. Our partnership with labs like Tryptomics is a core part of this practice.

  • Botanical Formulation: A precise, lab-verified blend of P. cubensis and secondary functional herbs (botanicals) designed to work synergistically for a specific wellness outcome.

  • Nuance Network: Our private, guided community space where individuals can engage in peer support and integration under the guidance of specialists.
